Blood, Sweat and Tears

Oh wow... I can't believe we did it! We have actually moved. This was the hardest thing I think Jeff and I have ever done. We had only so little time to pack, finish our basement, and move across country. But I have to say... we could not have done it without help from all of our friends and family. The past 2 weeks have been crazy! While Jeff was literally working on the house 24 hours a day, I was deciding what to take to NY and what not to take to NY. As I would take a car load of storage to my parents basement each night, I would then come back and help Jeff either sand or tape or clean... you name it. And then Jeff and I would spend time boxing clothes, dishes, tools, etc. As the time got closer to the big move, we knew that we were in a little deeper than we thought. We thought there is no way we can make it!! And as we saw ourselves getting more frustrated, we then saw friends and family just show up to help. I had moms and my good friends running errands to Home Depot, the bank, boxing my kitchen, cleaning, etc. And Jeff had boys doing anything they could see to do on the house. I am not kidding, we probably had 10 people just show up on the Saturday before we left. And some stayed until 1 or 2 am. We were seriously so grateful it made us realize how lucky we truly are with such great friends and family. All of those who helped- I don't think you'll ever know how much it meant. Thank you!!! So we had to be at the airport at 9:30 p.m. and we literally finished our house at 8:00 p.m. As our friends and family stood outside, Jeff and I stayed in and couldn't hold back the tears. It's hard when you have settled into a home where you see yourselves growing up and raising kids. And who knows- we hopefully still will! But I guess the hardest part is, when you put so much into a home- it's hard to leave it behind. Jeff and I looked around and couldn't believe that we had a finished basement, a brand new railing, new carpet, a new bathroom, new paint, our dream t.v. room and so many other things! We will sure miss it! Although we had a home that was 100% complete and that was a feeling that we had dreamed about for so long, it pailed in comparison to the overwhelming gratitude for the outpouring of service and generosity from incredible friends and family. Thank you! Thank you!!

We grabbed our last few belongings, our tools in the garage, turned off the lights and locked the door behind us. Thank you for all of the fun memories!
